This project started with a series of illustrations of butterflies and insects.
Creating Patterns
The illustrations were used to create different layouts and colourings for surface pattern design.
These patterns were digitally coloured and developed using specialist software.
Turning Pattern into Products
With the patterns created, they were digitally added to various products to see how the pattern could enhance them.
These digital renders were created in Photoshop.
Experimenting with Stitch
These butterfly and insect patterns were created using needlepoint.
Each motif was scanned and developed into a repeating surface pattern design.
Creating Smaller Patterns
The illustration of a bee was isolated to create a simpler pattern in a half drop repeat.
Insect Wallpaper
In collaboration with Elizabeth Ockford, these insect illustrations were developed into a wallpaper.
Insect Giftwrap
Using the existing Elizabeth Ockford wallpaper, a splash of colour was added to create a desirable gift wrap.
Outcome: A series of patterns inspired by butterflies and insects for different products.
